iPC Noob on Dell X300
I installed iPC 10.5.6 on my Dell X300 laptop. It's about 5 years old, and didn't have any issues taking the installation. I keep getting kernel panics and don't know how to get around them. I did a -v and tried -legacy and nothing works. The line it freezes at is:
"using 5898 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers" It's an Intel Centrino @ 1.2GHz, 1 GB RAM, 120GB HDD. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. DKV Update: I've tried reinstalling several times using different Kernels and so far I still get the same thing with each kernel. I've tried doing a bland install with no drivers and same thing. Maybe it's my laptop? Not sure. |
Anyone have any ideas or answers????

Well, I got past that issue by searching on the InsanelyMac forums, but a new issue has cropped up. I followed the instructions here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=152377.
I get to the grey boot screen, and it just stops. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find a solution to get past this. I've modified the instructions above numerous times and still can't get past that screen. Solutions or ideas anyone? |
Wow, no responses. I figured out the issues anyway. Versions of OS X above 10.4.11 don't work on Dell Latitude X300s. I was able to install 10.4.6 and am installing 10.4.8 right now to see if it'll work too.

I've tried 10.4.8 in dual boot...fail
No USB, No ethernet, No Wifi in 10.4.8. HFS+ partition error. I can boot the harddrive only if i use my dvd rom.
