I doubt it but you could try changing the boot order. It's very difficult troubleshooting this issue as I have never come across it before with all the installs I have done.

Try a different install cd. Give ideneb a try. Also readup and follow install tutorials on the web. That's the best advice I can give you.

Do verbose boot, -v at boot prompt. What's the last line before it stalls. Try booting with cpus=1. See if it helps.

Boot osx with -v for verbose boot. What's the last line before it freezes or stops loading. This should give you a clue of what's causing the stall. Also try and boot with cpus=1. See if it works....
