I had a similar problem... Turned out to be one...

I had a similar problem... Turned out to be one of my HDD was faulty... Took me sometime to figure it out though...

I installed Zeph's 10.5.2 release and they worked fine! However, as reported earlier it refuses to connect to a PPTP VPN. So I bit the bullet and bought a cheapy RTL 8139. I guess that ends my quest...
