'waiting for root device' can also be caused by...

'waiting for root device' can also be caused by the way your drives are setup. I had the same problem a couple of years ago.

To fix i had to first move both the DVD and IDE HDD to the same cable...

As an AMD owner you shouldn't use Apple Software Update for updating anything to do with the OS itself (at least for now...).

It's best to use Zeph's AMD Software Update as this patches CPUIDs...

Yep, after installing from the retail disk use Apple Software Update to update them. They should be safe to update - if you still get problems it's probably worth running Marvins on the drive.

You'll need to do more than just patch it with Marvins. There will be some kexts and the kernel that you will need to remove before attempting to upgrade.

If you can i would use ASU to patch it.
