Enable Quartz Extreme on 7600GT
Trying to enable Quartz Extreme on my setup. Here are my specs:
Phenom 9550 Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2HP 4GB RAM Geforce 7600GT Got OS X running using LawlessPPC 10.5.4. I went through a rigmarole to get the Geforce extensions running - not sure if there was an easier way - but I can change my screen resolution. If it helps, I used NVinject 0.2.1. Again, would appreciate any suggestions on how to enable Quartz Extreme as I would like to install Final Cut. |

I'd advise going to EFI strings for great CI/QE support (with help from a .bundle)... otherwise, check your permissions because those installers don't always finish this correctly. then reboot and recheck your graphics... 0.2.1 should work fine for it...
There's always the Zephyroth NVidia Universal Installer... I can PM you a link if you want. This incorporates NVinject 0.2.1 as well. |

QE
Thanks for the quick response, nfoav8or. I am clueless re: EFI strings. Would you happen to have a link to a good starting point/introduction? Also, a PM with the Zephyroth link would be great!

If your still having issues with NVinject you can try NVkush. Its in my signature. Though Nfoav8or is right its probably a issue with permissions.
You can manually install the kexts. 1. Removed all video related kexts (nvkush, nvinject...) 2. Copy NVinject.kext to /System/Library/Extensions 3. In Terminal write: Code:
sudo chmod -R 755 /System/LibraryExtensions/NVinject.kext 5. Entered your admin password when prompted 6. In Terminal write: Code:
sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVinject.kext sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext Code:
-v -f -F -f Ignore extensions cache -F Ignore com.apple.boot.plist settings If use any other boot flags add them to number 7. I have the same series of card as you do (not sure who manufactured yours). Ive used both NVinject & NVkush and both worked equally as well. Did I miss anything guy? mising file?
Hey, that worked! Thanks both of you for helping. lanceomni, I used your instructions, but there doesn't seem to be a Extensions.kextcache in the Library directory. Is that anything I should worry about?

System/Library/ not Library/ correct?
Im not sure maybe its already been removed. I believe that if you boot with the flags I described it should refresh those two files. I always thought removing those files and using -f would do pretty much the same thing but its just a fail safe. I could be wrong. Have you restarted after this? and used the flags?
