![]() Is there a way to do this without running into problems? I'm trying to install Leopard onto an external hard drive taken out of a macbook white with intent to reinstall it once the OS is on. But I can't seem to get anything I've tried to work. I downloaded, burned and attempted to install iATKOS_v1.0ir2.iso, but the installation failed halfway through with nothing but the most generic error message " Installation failed, try restarting". Has anyone tried this before?
Oh and before you suggest it, yes I tried installing a retail version of Leopard from the macbook itself, but the startup promps (c, n etc) seem to be disabled so it goes straight to a blinking file with a question mark over it without ever reading the DVD. Thanks in advance. -Josh |

Disk location or size should not matter for installation as long as you have support for the SATA disk controller. Try a more recent 10.5.6 distro, I'm not even sure whats that iAtkos 1.0ir2...
You can see the full installation log in the menubar. You cant boot a retail disk on a PC straight, you need a bootloader like boot132 or chameleon2, either on a CD or on a USB Drive. |

Well, I think I'm coming to the conclusion that there is absolutely no simple way to do this, so I'm just going to borrow someone else's macbook to install it from.

or if u already have it installed on your computer, try going into the utilities folder and click Remote Install Mac OS X(get a retail DVD for this if your installing on an accuall Mac) and just do what it tells you to. problem solved.
