@ kroviken
What version did you update from? I know when you start mixing up the combo updates using ASU, it doesn't always work out to well. what kind of crash are we talking about? kernel panics? system freeze?

well in my case, to be sure it would work, first I would upgrade the kernel and system kext while in 10.5.2...
After I was sure the system was stable and running smoothly, I upgraded to "AMD 10.5.3" which, yes, is 10.5.3 but it is also what you want to look for when searching the bay. After that's installed and the system runs smoothly, I would use ASU to upgrade to 10.5.4... This method has worked for me a bunch of times (as I frequently test out new ways of installing to test partitions). Now I simply save the Mod-updates as they come out so I will not have to make a huge combo-update-jump in the future. Hope this helps.

Same here. After I got my system recovered, I tried it patch only...It said no patching necessary. No need to rebuild...I then downloaded the update and extracted it into a test directory and ran Marvin's on it and it found lots of CPUIDs and a decrypted file. Makes me wonder if ASU is doing everything it should be doing.

I finally just repackaged the update myself and installed it. Worked fine then.

Just a question...
After you unpack the package and patches it, how do you repack it?

@colo; yes, you can update using Zeph's AMD Software Updater but not with Apple's built in Software Updater. If you want the latest kernel and system kext you will need to find and place those manually. Good luck.
