Question Kexts problem?

Hey all, my pc is:
amd 64x2 4200+
asrock k10n78d(Chipset- NVIDIAŽ nForce 720D; 7,1 audio - VIAŽ VT1708S)
asus nvidia gts 250 512mb
200gb sata hdd
120gb ata hdd(ide)
and ide dvd-rom

I have problem:
i Tried a lot of releases, 10.5.6 ipc all releases didn't worked, many other too, the only 1 i could make to work is 10.5.5 iatkos, but i couldn't get sound or network(i also have pci network adapter if needen to connect, d-link dfe-520tx). So i tried a lot of releases, different errors, mostly still waiting for root device(and few errors for example: installation opens, but after customize installation and starting installation no end time shown, and in log nothing happens...simply like freezes, eventhough mouse work).
Is there anyway i can get kexts, and which kexts i need to copy from 10.5.5 iatkos dvd to for example 10.5.6 ipc or iatkos 10.5.7? How? i have a dvd-rw disk and win7, win7 allows to make a something like usb from dvd-rw disk. Hope you will help.

Btw tried different bios configs, loading with only sata+dvd, only ata+dvd, different primary/slave etc etc... still the same: still waiting for root device( last try was on 10.6.2 amd/intel by hazard).
Waiting for answer

p.s. I meaned i need copying kexts of sata/ide drivers.

Welcome to Infinitemac

It is always a good idea to install with only the bare minimum of options selected. The goal should be to get into the OSX Gui as it is much easier to tackle each problem from a working gui.

You mentioned that you 10.5.5. iatkos distro worked out the best as in you booted into OSX just could not get networking or sound working. I would use this as a starting point and than address each issue one at a time.

Get a piece of paper handle and write down notes on each of your attempts and the issues you had. Always boot using the flag -v as this gives you Verbose Mode and useful information.

Install options - If you are not 100% sure you know which chipset to select you can choose all of them except those which are similar. So only select one nForce option and one Via option and you should be safe.
Likewise I would leave graphics alone until. Not selecting anything will still give you VESA graphics however selecting multiple or incorrect options may lead to the machine hanging on boot.

If your system hangs on boot give it a few more minutes. If nothing happens take notice to the line it hangs on.

Im not familiar with your chipset but Ill look around and see if I can find out which one your machine requires. For now if you can get your 10.5.5 iatkos up and running as you mentioned it will be a great deal easier to fix your sound/net problems.

t.y. for posting, the problem is i have waiting for system root before installation, on ideneb's installation launches fine, and on installation start(just after customize) it like freezes, mouse is working, but no time is showing, and dvd-rom isn't reading anything, in installation log it is stopped at validating package payload.(it was ideneb 10.5.7, i tried other ideneb but don't remember where i couldn't get installation)
On iatkos 10.5.7 i have same problem
On ipc 10.5.6(tried different releases with different ppf) as i remember after installation i have waiting for system root, if i would know where to copy nforce kext from iatkos 10.5.5 release, i could use with my windows macdrive and add that kext to launch, but don't know how to copy from iatkos.
i don't rem now a lot of releases i tried, but only with 1 release installation and booting up to mac os was fine - iatkos 10.5.5
Problem is i have 7.1channel audio and i couldn't get it to work, searched though posts, posted new thread - no help, my sound driver is VIA vt1708s - build in mainboard. Tried diff drivers, azalia, voodoo hd(or something like that), tried drivers from via vt1708b(or something like that, same audio but only 5.1 output) - no result, osx showed no audio connected at all.
Other iatkos problem was - network - tried different kexts - created new thread in forum - no1 could help, this is the copy of my thread exluding my pc stats in there:
---------------------------------
"Hey all.
...
I tried installing a lot of osx86 releases such as ipc 10.5.6/10.5.8, i deneb 10.5.5, 10.5.6, 10.5.8, ipc - gaved me error that i couldn't fix, ideneb 10.5.8 - couldn't install(bug at installation start), ideneb 10.5.6 - couldn't fix
So i used to use ideneb:
Voodo kernel didn't worked, so i used 9.4.0 kernel(don't remember the name of it)+amd patch = amd works
nvinject 512mb = video card works
nforceata(or smth like that) chipset driver
And that's the problem:
I have onboard lan(mcp78 @ nforce720d - in device id chipset shown not as 720, as nvidia geforce 8200 chipset)
Also i have pci card dlink dfe 520tx.
My it configurated for me that any mac address will be accepted.

When i use forcedeth - no ethernet is shown.
When i use nforcelan driver - ethernet is shown, but cable is plugged or not - it always shows connected, but when i try safari - instant text that sayes i'm not connected to internet - troubleshooting shows: 2 of 5 green lights(all green till asp).
When i use viarhine(for d-link pci card) - it shows when cable is plugged or not - when i connect it, configure - safari shows bar that loading a webpage, but a little later - error that don't have internet connection.Troubleshooting - shows 2(sometimes 3, then immediately 2) green lights, and internet and last1 shown as yellow or red.
Troubleshooting didn't fixed anything.
I use my Internet Provider gived internet configuration, so i always use "manual" config with ip/mask/router/and 2 dns servers.

So i need help ;/

btw: i have 7.1 chan audio onboard(VIA VT1708S), as far from reading posts all info about drivers i found only 2 drivers for my card: azalio audio and voodoohd - both didn't worked.

Maby something with nforce chipset driver? Hope some1 will help ;/
Btw i also tried apple yukon fix. "
---------------------------------
Gonna try iatkos 10.5.5 again in these days. Btw in post about network - "couldn't fix" = couldn't boot after installation.

Btw: after talking long time ago with my Internet Provider - i managed to get free mac address, i mean i can connect and use internet with any mac address, so problem couldn't be in mac address.

My mistake! I could get to work not that iatkos 10.5.5, i could get ideneb 10.5.5!!!

Your goal, as mentioned as mentioned in the previous post, should be to get a working OSX gui with the least amount of options chosen during install.

iatkos v7
When you acquired this file there should have been a MD5 checksum included with it. You can use this to check the integrity of your downloaded file. You can Google "How to check MD5 checksum" or you can check out this program for windows. http://www.exactfile.com

You have burned a bunch of ISOs so it looks like you know how to burn them and I don't need to go over that. Lets burn the disk again using, at most, half of the maximum burning speed of the drive. I would suggest the slowest speed possible and go have a bite to eat.

With the file verified and the disk burned slowly you can try to boot. Use the boot flags:
Code:
-v -f maxmem=2048
You can other boot-flags just make sure you add them to this.

If you get into the installer choose the following and nothing more:
Chameleon v2
/Extra directory
AppleDecrypt
SMBIOS Resolver
9.7.0 Kernel voodoo
Disabler
All of the System chipset options unless in the description it says that one of them conflicts with the other.

It looks like Post-Install Actions is selected by default though Im not sure what these are you can leave it checked.

10.5.5
Get to the point where you are getting the Still Waiting for Root error and we can try to install the ATA kext manually.

Get the ATA kext
I use Slashack's modified AppleNForceATA.kext.
Thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=127611
Download Page: http://darwin-ata.googlecode.com/fil...ceATA.kext.zip

From here you have two options. Place the kext on a USB flash drive formatted to FAT32 or HFS or use some kind of software to place the file into the root of your HFS formatted drive from within Windows.

Just let me know which method you used and how you formatted the USB drive if you used it. If you placed it directly onto the drive somewhere else than let me know. Ill reply back with the steps to get it installed with correct permissions.

I don't have usb right now, i have dvd+rw, and also i can go to mac journal drive though windows and put required kexts to extensions folder.(it's about 10.5.5)
T.y. for your answers, gonna try install iatkos v7 as u sayed. and reply again.

Btw: with 10.5.5 i have only kext problems with audio and ethernet, i don't get still waiting for root device, i get still waiting for root device on ipc 10.5.6 so i'm gonna try that1 with ipc, btw i'm gonna try xxx_x86 10.5.6 final, cause i didn't tried this1 yet

Well if you had the best luck with 10.5.5 than that would be a great place to start. We can address your audio and net problems from within OSX.

If you place the kext in your extensions folder you will need to make sure permissions are set properly. Boot into Single User Mode using the -s boot flag and type the following:
Code:
/sbin/mount -uw /
cd /System/Library
chmod -R 755 Extensions/
chown -R root:wheel Extensions/
rm -Rf Extensions.mkext
Than reboot using -v -f boot flags

Ok, i will try and answer, after 30min i'll try xxx_x86 10.5.6 if i'll have problems there i'll install ideneb 10.5.5 and do all as u sayed

btw it's normal to use dvd REWRITABLE?

btw i have 1 question: i have 7.1 channel audio, i have 6 outputs on the back of mainboard, and in bios i see thing like audio front panel, what is this1? I can't get working even 1 channel of those 6 on back, most people could get 2 , maby they could get that front panel? What's this1? i don't have any other audio outputs anywhere ;/

Edited:
Finally! i managed to run xxx_x86 10.5.6 final( i think it's ppf3), i installed all but didn't choosed audio drivers on install, as i though it wouldn't work, internet works fine, video card to(Qe/ci too), boots fast, processor works fine, now i'm gonna try find audio driver Btw anyway that mac could read not only other drivers from windows - ntfs, and fat32 too?
Thank you for that -v -f maxmem=2048, mb it worked fine cause of this thing Btw at validating package payload it was lagging too, but it was saying calculating time so i waited and after 3-5min it started installation The only thing i didn't liked is that after installation when it asked for restart and command line appeared i had kernel crash with voodoo 9.5.0, but i installed 9.6.0 Av or An or smthng like that

it will be superb if you'd help me finding audio driver, via vt1708s, device id is: 10de:0774

strange but it works now! I didn't tested microphone yet, in settings at all sayes that no audio devices built-in, i though don't work(voodoohda 0.21), then i installed newer version 0.2.2 and no built-in audios, but when i was erasing trash i heared a mac sound! woohoo! finally i have mac fully working, atleast i have only 1 problem:
When i was restarting mac, mac turned off, and it was a black screen, but i needed to press restart button manually, it didn't restarted itself
