Help: Mac OS X w/ Win 7 AMD Athlon 64 X2
Hey to anyone who reads this,
Im interested in installing mac os x lion (or even snow leopard at worst) on my pc, and dual booting both win 7 and mac, but im not that advanced at understanding some of the language that is spoken here (mostly mac terms). I wanna know if my pc is compatible to to do this. Had my pc since 06 so i wouldnt be surprised if its not compatible. I asked in another thread but i guess people have been gone for a few days now Here is some basic information that might be able to help you quickly assess whether or not it is possible for me. I could provide more info if needed. Thanks for any help Last edited by zo26; 09-18-2011 at 05:35 AM. |

Well if you have an AMD processor, you wont be able to install Lion for now. But you can install Snow Leopard 10.6.8, which is almost as good as Lion (or maybe even better for average user on a desktop pc)...
But if you want to run Lion on your PC, you need to buy compatible hardware (Intel Core 2 or above, 64 bit CPU), or wait until a legacy kernel is released... Last edited by nightf4ll; 09-18-2011 at 09:42 AM. |

ok so i install snow leopard and whenever the legacy kernel is released would it be easier to "upgrade" in a way or would it be the same as starting over as if i never had mac os x on my pc?
Im gonna search for what i need to install but im completely new to this so if you have any other info, i would really appreciate it. and thanks for that bit you gave me. i appreciate that as well, i thought 64 bit capable was compatible? It says 64 bit capable under the number of processor cores in the image. thanks Last edited by zo26; 09-18-2011 at 07:00 PM. |

But if you want to do it the other way, try searching forums... there are probably step by step instructions somewhere. If not here, maybe on insanleymac.com |

Thank you so much for this. I know that while my processors are 64 bit capable, they aren't up to the capabilities of the newer 64 bit CPUs. I was getting a little discouraged also. Gonna perform the search for the OS you have installed.
