Disk Problem with HP dv6700 AMD Notebook
Good day/night/evening, InfiniteMac gurus, I am having an issue booting from the Leo4All 10.5.2 installation disk. For some reason I am stuck at the famous error message "still waiting for root device", however, I tried the Kalyway DVD and did managed to boot the system but was unable to install to the local sata disk on the system. Kindly check my signature for further details.

You help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried any of these solutions? It does sound like a driver issue since you can boot the Kalway disk successfully.

When you say you were unable to install to the sata, was this because it wasn't showing up as an option or another reason? If it wasn't showing up, try switching the sata mode to ahci mode if you can.

Installations (both you tried) doesnt have support for you chipset. Search on the net, wiki is an option too, how to inject driver into installation DVD, you'll need a working OS-X, or TransMac to do it via windows. First do some research to find relevant driver for you nforce chipset then you'll have to inject it. It's not very difficult but requires some work and effort. Have in mind, when you successfully inject chipset driver and install Leopard, the installer will not copy chipset driver into hdd installation (injected one will be used just for the dvd, to boot and install osx, it will see your hdd's, usb, etc). So after installation you will have to boot with dvd again, and copy that kext into hdd leopard installation.

I had same issue with my acer laptop, due to the nforce mcp 67 chipset.
If you, like me, haven't got a working osx install to inject kext into dvd, you can easily install onto an external hd. (my hint is to use the leo4allv4, which was the only one working for me) Once you install it, you have two options: you can transport your external installation to an internal hd, using something like Norton Ghost, or just create the appropriate dvd to your hardware.
These are the only ways: leo doesn't like amd+nforce
