My AMD rig simply will not work with OS X. Help please?!
I have been at this for the longest time. I've spent days straight trying to get this to work. I've spent hours and hours and I've had no luck whatsoever. Whenever I fix a problem another one arises.
I've tried every combination of BIOS settings you could possibly fathom, and no, my BIOS does not have any options relative to SATA AHCI or IDE modes. I've tried iATKOS v7, iATKOS L2, SnowLeo 10.6.2, and a retail Snow Leopard 10.6.0 DVD. I've tried iBoot, OSx86 ModCD, and a legacy boot cd. None of these, in any combination with each other, have gotten to the installation screen. They've either stopped at the infamous "Still waiting for root device", spammed SuperNForceATA errors, or simply rebooted my machine. iATKOS L2 just reboots or gives me a black screen. With all of these distros I've tried multitudes of boot commands, including busratio=17, -v, -x, -f, rd=disk#s#, and more I can't remember, all in just about every combination you can imagine, on both SATA and IDE disks... and none of them have gotten to the install screen. I've posted this question on countless forums and I've never found a solution. Here are my specs. If anyone can help me get OS X running on this computer, I will be forever in your debt. Forever. I will dedicate my life to worshiping your hackintosh skills and knowledge. I will build a shrine in my house dedicated to your likeness, and it will be the greatest shrine of any shrine ever created for the one(s) who helped me get OS X running on my system - a procedure with difficulty equivalent to neurosurgery. Here's my specs. ASUS M4N68T-M V2 (Nvidia GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a Chipset) AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 RAM MSI Nvidia GTX460 Any help would be very, very greatly appreciated. Edit: In what scientists are calling "f---ing amazing", I got iATKOS L2 to install on my ASUS UL50VT laptop. So any methods that I can use to help get OS X on my desktop using my laptop now running Lion are available to me. Last edited by Huskehn; 11-26-2011 at 07:40 AM. |

You can't install iAtkos L2 on your AMD because there's no kernel for that yet. Have you tried iAtkos S3 v2? Also, here's a guide for nForce mobos, you can get the kexts you need from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=184224

Once I get Lion installed, I should be good! However, I'm being optimistic. If I encounter any more problems, I'll post them here. I'm documenting what I do as I do it, so if I get this working, I'll be able to start helping others with similar hardware. |

Concerning LION friend, I can advise you to give up for now, as no AMD kernel for LION has been created yet!!! If you do found one, do let me know as I'm keeping in touch everyday to look what about Nawcom's or AnV has done, and no legacy kernel yet has been done!!

Ah, I'd need a new kernel for Lion? I suppose that makes sense. Well, thank you for warning me! If I ever find one and get it to work I'll be sure to let you know.

Of course you will need a new kernel as LION uses Darwin 11.0 whereas Snow Leopard uses up to 10.8. Im too AMD user, but can advise you to think forward to switch to INTEL in mid 2012 like me when DDR4 will be commercialised. As what I heard, future APPLE major apps will require SSSE 3 CPU instructions like; FINAL CUT PRO which only INTEL cpu's have. For now you can still run Snow 10.6.8. The only two persons who I know on the OS X scene, who can make a kernel for LION are AnV and Nawcom. So keep in touch!!!

Please give me an answer!! What did you do exactly when you initiated the installation, whether from CDs, USB? What are the function of house, what exactly you're doing when you start the installation? |
