I've explained why it doesn't work, I don't see what you don't understand. You'll need someone who is good at configuring the kernel to authentic a correct UUID, and then maybe it'll work. Revogirl stated that the source they release isn't 100% the same source they compile and run at cupertino, so let's say it's a conspiracy.

Now there's a very risky method but if you install iMessage on intel hack or real mac and CCC the imessage.app and restore on the amd hack, then that might be a workaround but I've not tested or tried this.

About the Network, I managed to fix it.

XPCHELPER STILL CRASHES AND EATS CPU, My process is in the 10,000 level because it crashes nonstop, although the programs start, it still crashes. Constantly, applied all the patches and fixes, nothing still, and no, I didn't do anything wrong or forget....

I was having this issue, but it was related to my graphics kext. I fixed it by updating to the newest version of the official driver for my card and adding my device ID to the info.plist. Don't know if that'll work for you, but it's worth at shot. I also added busratio flags to my boot.plist and a few different kexts but I'm not sure any of that worked :-/

I can confirm this. Rolled back to the v4 kernel and I'm doing just fine again :) No problems with copy/paste/trash or any of that. Ever since I patched xpchelper the first time, I haven't had any issues. I've since updated to 10.7.4 as well, and it still isn't crashing my system. This will work if you're doing everything correctly.

I gave up..
Every single time I had to reboot, I needed to try a diff combination of flags to get it to boot.
A lot of attempts to even boot.. I was using

"mach_kernel PCIRoot=0 PCIRootUID=0 npci=0x3000 GraphicsEnabler=Yes -legacy -v"

Sometimes I had to change PCIRootUID to 1, and a lot of crazy combination.. I can't understand why.

For a long time now I'm trying to run OSX =/

EDIT: Oh yeah, and don't forget to reboot after you've fixed it!

It came down to rolling back AppleFileSystemDriver.kext and reinstalling it AFTER the 10.7.4 update. There were also a couple other things that were giving me trouble, check out the posts and you'll get man.

this is because the new system.kext on 10.7.4 doesn't match with 11.3.0 kernel we're using.
just use system.kext from 10.7.3 until someone make a new legacy_kernel 11.4.0

Installed that kext and rebooted, now my Broadcom wireless card's kext won't load. Reinstalled the other system.kext and it still didn't load... Gonna try some troubleshooting here real quick but I don't know what's goin on at this point lol

or you can also try to roll back the IO80211Family.kext (wireless) and the IONetworkingFamily.kext (wired)

Haha ya thanks buddy I had gotten it all sorted out a little bit ago. Just like you said, I had to reinstall all of the 10.7.4 kexts I had rolled back and then just roll back system.kext and IO80322Family.kext together, and now all is well :) Clean boot and my wifi still works.

I think there's a bug in V6 Kernel, I don't have video while playing files using Mplayerx. I don't know if it's just a problem with Mplayerx or all video players :-/

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but I started seeing around 13-20% CPU usage for no apparent reason at all, and I couldn't get rid of it to save my life, until I realized that it was only showing up when I booted verbose. If I boot with -v, something is eating at my CPU, but if I boot normally it sits between 1-2% LOL

Okay I got it. I messed up my 10.7.4 install, so instead of restoring from my CarbonCopyCloner backup (yes, it is great:D) I decided to start fresh from iAtkos L2. The kext that you need to back up and replace is IOStorageFamily.kext. But anyways, I was able to successfully update from 10.7.2 to 10.7.4 so it's not impossible, just be sure to back up and replace that kext.

i seen one in my keychain app. on my intel laptop but don't know where to find the location of the Keychain file to test my theory .

After quitting installing Lion as a main OS, I'm doing it under Vmware.. I have the OS running, but..

1) I can only boot using the ISO of rboot (from Tonymacx86)

2) I'm trying to install chameleon/chimera, but the console is showing a weird log about not authorizing them to install..

I'm really unlucky.. =/ Besides of having an AMD box, my main GPU is a HD 6950, who doesn't work easy with Lion, and even working (never get on that point) has problems.. I was trying with Geforce 210.. Then I'm at Vmware now.. xD

In short, I managed to run fast and simple versions 10.7 to 10.7.3 with your kernel, however, by having the application crash problems and 32-bit mode.

I tried the 10.7.4 Update V6 with your kernel (the update is going very well) but on reboot I lose my com Satas.

Do you have an easy way (for my little brain !) To parry with his problems? or is it still too early to simple solutions?

You have to replace AppleFileSystemDriver.kext with the 10.7.3 version or it will not work. There's a post and a link to download the next a few pages back.

I was having a problem booting Snow from my Lion drive and vice versa because I had an older version of Chameleon installed on my Snow drive than on my Lion. My Snow was still using a com.apple.boot.plist while the Chameleon bootloader was looking for org.chameleon.boot.plist. I just renamed my Snow com.apple.boot.plist to org.chameleon.boot.plist and now it will boot from my Lion drive.

In short, they all boot off of one boot loader now.

You need to show hidden files, navigate to /system/installations/packages and target install OSinstall.mpkg to your Lion partition or drive.

3 problems are really getting my nerve:

1) "com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: (com.apple.ReportCrash[192]) posix_spawn("/System/Library/CoreServices/ReportCrash", ...): No such file or directory" Even after doing the procedure to stop xpchelper a lot of times.

2) Can't install chameleon, console shows: "authorizationhost: SFBuiltinEntitled: Installer.app is not entitled for system.install.apple-software"

3) IOHIDSystem cursor update overdue. Resending. This is happening a lot, slowing the GUI and creating a laggy cursor often =/

Pls, someone help me =(

Oh, and maybe relacted to any of this problems.. The mouse whell is always spinning, "inside finder".

I don't know about number two, it sounds like you just deleted ReportCrash which would mean it's not there anymore for your system to use. Not a big deal I don't think.

I was having the same IOHIDSystem error in console and I tried a bunch of shit to fix it, but I'm pretty sure it was adding busratio=21 to my boot flags. You'll need to use the right busratio for your CPU but that's what did it for me I'm pretty sure.

If not working copy/delete/trash - you should delete folder /private/var/folders/zz/ and xpchelper no crash and working copy ...! :)
in terminal :
sudo rm -rf /private/var/folders/zz/ :)

You can check this by booting in verbose and looking for a TSC out of sync processor error. What this kext does is sync your TSC every 10 seconds to increase performance.

One strange thing:

I'm using kernel v6 on 10.7.2 and in more than 30min CrashReport didn't stop me of opening any program (but it still is reporting logs and logs in console).. I'll wait a few hours before doing the procedure to stop reportcrash.

3) For the current, existing user, uncheck the "Allow user to administer this computer" box
4) Restart & log in as the new administrator
5) System Preferences -> Users & Groups
6) For the real administrator account, re-check the "Allow user to administer this computer" box
7) Log out & log back in as the actual normal user/administrator
8) Delete the temporary administrator account

If so, you locked more files than you should have while applying the xpchelper fix. You need only lock /var/folder/xx(this is the other folder than zz)/t**********(should be the only folder within this folder)/C/com.apple.xpchelper.cache. To fix this you should unlock /var/folders/zz so Lion can write those caches.

EDIT: Oh yeah and if that's the problem and you did lock the folder then just do this:
sudo su
chflags nouchg /private/var/folders/zz

No problem man. Try to install something again and look for something with /private/var/folders/zz right before you get the installer error.

Just download Chameleon Wizard and then choose to install Chameleon on USB. :)

Hello all!

From information from various forums, I have managed to get Mac OS X 10.7.4 running well enough to be posting this from it. Below are my specs.

ASUS M4A88T-V EVO/USB3 (http://usa.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A88TV_EVOUSB3)
AMD Athlon II x4 640
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5670
12GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
Assorted SATA HDDs in AHCI mode
Penta-boot configuration: ArchLinux, Windows Vista, Windows 7, OS X 10.6.8, and OS X 10.7.4

Issues:

My graphics card (see above). It was a real bitch to get working in Snow Leopard and is not proving any easier in Lion. It also allows a 1400x1050 framebuffer, (or whatever it's called in OS X) so I can live with that until I get Quartz Extreme working.

I can only mount one DMG per boot. The first mounts and ejects perfectly, but if I try it a second time, DiskImageMounter just sits there with 4KBs of RAM used and does nothing.

Flash Player installer won't start. Again it just sits there using 4KBs of RAM.

Keyboard repeat doesn't work properly; I can hit a key faster than it will repeat on its own. Yes, I do have repeat rate set to max in System Preferences.

There are certainly others but none glaring enough to come to me at the moment.


Questions:

Nawcom, when are you making a Lion kernel? (JK)

I get the idea that xpchelper is causing a lot of issues but don't quite know what the issue is. I "mv /System/Library/CoreServices/ReportCrash /System/Library/CoreServices/ReportCrash.bak"ed because ReportCrash was eating my CPU, but xpchelper hasn't crashed yet to my knowledge.

What's all this?

Alright, so here's what I did in a nutshell:

1. Install OSInstall.mpkg from iATKOS L2 to a spare HDD. (USB in my case for convenience, makes no difference)
2. Copy this (http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2723) to / of your new installation. I can't remember if that works with 10.7.2, or if you have to use v4 from here (http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2584).
3. Backup and replace Finder.app with this (http://www.mediafire.com/?7dc3kbhevt5f079).
4. Reboot, and specify the following flags: mach_kernel_v6 -v arch=i386 -legacy npci=0x3000
5. Update to 10.7.4.
6. Remove ReportCrash.
7. Enjoy a mostly functional Lion install.

It appears that iATKOS comes with FakeSMC V3.10, and V3.10 didn't work for me or felipeunix (see post 907), so replace it with V4.2 (or whatever the latest version is) from here (http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1643).

My program (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79094064/Xpchelper%20Disabler%3AEnabler%20Program.zip) that I wrote with applescript will search for, find, and give you the choice of doing "chflags uchg" (disabling) or "chflags nouchg" (enabling) ALL xpchelper cache files, which will fix the problem with copy and paste, crashing applications, etc without creating other various problems associated with deleting the zz folder.

You have to replace AppleFileSystemDriver.kext with the 10.7.3 version or it will not work. There's a post and a link to download the next a few pages back.

In summary, I restart my 10.7.4 Update on my Untel with a vanilla kernel 11.4.0, I added the kernel of R:A:W: X86 by renaming it "custom" and then with the flag custom -legacy GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1 -v (EAH 5870)

It really was so incia expect it, but as it took so long I thought I caught.

But with the compilation of R:A:W:X86 system starts super fast!
but only in 64bit.

My program (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79094064/Xpchelper%20Disabler%3AEnabler%20Program.zip) that I wrote with applescript will search for, find, and give you the choice of doing "chflags uchg" (disabling) or "chflags nouchg" (enabling) ALL xpchelper cache files, which will fix the problem with copy and paste, crashing applications, etc without creating other various problems associated with deleting the zz folder.

So here's one I just noticed.

First, the success story:

I've been working on getting 10.7.4 set up and stable because I built a Hack Pro for my wife for school. I was working with the drive that it's installed on inside of my Hack Pro (identical hardware) while getting everything set up, before migrating the drive into the other tower.

Long story short, I was very happy with the results. She's been using the computer for a few days now with no problems whatsoever. She mainly uses iWork and Evernote for school, so nothing too hardcore, but the system is working perfectly. It's an identical build to the one in my sig, with the exception being that it's running a GTX 550ti. Mission accomplished, basically.

Okay, here's the weird part:

Now that I'm all back up and running on my build with my 10.6.7 drive, everything is back to normal. Except (of course there's an exception) for the fact that my system profiler is no longer detecting my CPU type and speed properly?! It's showing a 4.6GHz 6 Core Intel Xeon processor, when it ALWAYS showed the proper AMD PII before installing Lion on a separate drive. Even stranger, it's showing the same thing it was showing under Lion when I had that drive installed on this computer. And I can't get it to change back, even with OSX86Tools (I know, ancient, but it worked for me before).

So here's the question:

What the hell happened?! :-/ How did installing Lion on a completely different drive screw up my Snow Leopard drive from auto-detecting CPU type and speed? And more importantly, HOW CAN I FIX IT???

and i still love snow and do alot of work on it (Cubase) and are held back by plug ins not compatible with lion, would love to see if you can bring those skills back to snow

You need to show hidden files, navigate to /system/installations/packages and target install OSinstall.mpkg to your Lion partition or drive.

There is your answer. Updated bootloader. I don't know when it started, but after certain version of chameleon, any cpu with 4 cores or more will show as Xeon.

Hey Everyone!

I finally got 10.7.2 installed on my AMD machine using iAtkos!

I ran out to get a new graphics card (NVidia GeForce GT 520) so that I could change my resolution and have apps like Preview and iMovie work however, it's not recognized.

Some people have said that theirs is recognized out of the box but for me, I can't even change my resolution. I can't find any kexts that would enable this card to work either.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

That's what I do already though. The screen is still "shrunk". The resolution is fine but the screen doesn't take up the full monitor.

Well I am into this since the early days of Leopard and this wasn't not usual in the beginning.
The source code of the ToH Kernel patch was made public end of May 2008.
More than half a year after the beginning of it's development.

It has proved that this had been the right decission.
If the source would not have been released back then, the development of the Voodoo Kernel would have never been achieved and AMD OSx86 would be already dead for a long time now...

But still I do understand him.
If I would have put a lot of work in to a Kernel patch, I would not want some tonymac like asshole to relabel it without giving any credits either.

Nevertheless I hope my argumentation will be heared... :)

Wow... I have a lot to catch on.... But just to share, I was out of the hack os x and when I came back and started logging in to the hack os x sites I noticed I was banned from a certain site, for no reason, not sure why either (but u mentioned the site)...... Anyways, that out of the way and long story short, I sold my i3 and upgraded my old AMD machine from Athlon64 X2 6000+ to Phenom II X4 940 (so I could compile XCode faster, and YES, it is much faster!!!) so I decided to check if Lion + AMD was a go and apparently is! I would like to try this out, but I have a ***LOT*** of catching up. Maybe if someone would answer a few questions so I don't have to read 50+ pages...

AMD Phenom X4 64
Model: 2
Family: 16
ATI Radeon HD 4650 (was a pain to get this working in 10.6.8..guessing lion won't be better)
I use apple's usb to ethernet adapter for internet (Realtek 8185L wifi and Yukon 88e8071 are installed but couldn't find a fix to get them working)
4GB DDR2 Ram (have 4 more Gigs I'd like to use if anyone knows a fix for this in lion or even snow leopard)


I have no access to the app store in snow leopard (I've tried every fix possible with no luck..if you have new ideas here i'm listening :D ) so I can't get the update to lion that way. I don't have an Intel PC to work off of so that route is out. Wasn't sure if I would be able to download a retail copy of lion along with some combo updates and get the install working that way? How Are you guys installing lion? I've tried to do iatkos l2 inside of snow leopard but it gives me an error half way through. I have also tried Niresh Lion 10.7.3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. An in depth guide would be pretty awesome. I have an AMD Athlon II P360 dual-core processor (64-bit). Also I have my wireless card working but it only sees networks that are extremely close unlike in windows and Ubuntu. Please assist if you can.

I tried that, but it says i have to specify the kernel cache path. Then i tried building caches which gave me a kernelcache file. I put this file in root and booted with "Kernel Cache"=\kernelcache ...and instant reboot :( So i'm at a loss here, please help :)

run this command:
sudo kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions

then boot normally ( without: -f )

all kexts have to be located in /S/L/E

if there're some kexts located in /E/E, then you can run this command
sudo kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /Extra/Extensions

Bulldozer CPUs can boot with 64-Bit enabled.
Finder is a pure 64-Bit App in Lion, so yes it works.

Running 32-Bit software requires the SYSENTER opcode, which is not avaible on AMD CPUs when 64-Bit is enabled & software beeing lunched in compatibilty mode.

There is no workaround for this atm.

qemu - kvm as a processor emulator have a bunch of ssse3 implementations in C, it seems pretty well to me, guess it works fine. I can try to get the ASM for that instructions, but I'm not sure yet how to make the osx kernel use them =/

I've managed to fix the system preferences crashing that people have been experiencing when opening network preferences! Just put this (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79094064/Network.prefPane.zip) into /System/Library/PreferencePanes/ and replace the existing one. Just make sure you back up the old one in case this one doesn't work.

Well guys I've got to say I'm impressed. After running SL for ages on my AMD rig I have been watching this thread for weeks. Last weekend I gave it a go and within a few days Lion 10.7.4 has become my main boot (still got W7 & SL).

Specs are:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 6850
GA-890GPA-UD3H
M-Audio Delta 2496

Complete setup working great so far, but 32 bit mode only. What are chances on 64 bit kernel coming??

Everything seems to work (except Final Cut X <--is it 64bit?)

Going to do a CCC and install the combo update 10.7.4 next. :)

I also have OS X 10.6.8 and Windows 7 on same drive (160gig Intel SSD) triple booting.

It appears to be launchd that makes use of SSSE3, which is actualy open-source (I haven't yet looked it up) - but even if we could patch it, there might be other (closed source) parts of the OS that make use of that instructions set, so an emulator might be the way to go.

I're trying to understand (not easy for me), a sure thing I noticed in doing performance testing, your kernel optimized to look good with performance similar to w7, also, by testing the Xeon in 32 bit, I find yourself exactly the same bugs on AMD. Hence my question, is this related to the instruction set (SSE2/SSE3 etc.) or just the 32 bit mode which is very poorly managed by Leo 10.7. Now, something I do not know how sse3 and 64 bit are they related ? it is certain that my Phenom x6 uncloker to 3.01 is better than my i7 875K to 2.93 , find the mistake! € 100 vs € 350 !!

To disable Spotlight indexing on Lion:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

The blinking is still present and Finder freezes when I empty trash or do any activity. Any kernel I can test with the DP Finder and 32-bit mode?

I am now going to revert back to 10.7.2 and install 10.7.3 combo update and test that one to see if I get same results as 10.7.4

The ComboUpdate pkg does not run, the only way to upgrade is via Software Update?! It doesn't let me pick any drive and gives the error message: "Mac OS X Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. An error occurred while evaluating JavaScript for the package."

I left OS X Lion running for a day, when I tried to run certain apps they would just hang (icon bouncing) like Software Update, and other tasks, like copying an app to Applications folder from a DMG, etc etc.. Wondering if it's Finder.app causing this, since I can copy the files from Terminal with no issues.

If you want to run XCode 4 I recommend installing 10.6.8 and XCode 4 for 10.6.8 and then updating iOS SDK 5.1 on it. Send me a PM and I can help you install XCode 4 and iOS SDK 5.1 after you get 10.6.8 running. It is stable, I use it as my daily OS, haven't booted into Windows 7 for a while now...only boot into Windows 7 to work on partitions.

Complete setup working great so far, but 32 bit mode only. What are chances on 64 bit kernel coming??

***BUMP*** Anyone working on figuring out a 64bit capable kernel? The only thing holding me back from running Lion on my main CPU is my need for FCPX. Hopefully soon, huh...?

Is anybody else experiencing constant HD activity? Not sure if it's writing but all that activity is not good/safe for SSD :-/

Also, after a few minutes if I try to run certain apps they stay bouncing on the dock and never open. (apps like Software Update, TextEdit, and others. Tasks like copying using Finder also hangs. Finder.app could be the cause of this? Im using the 32-bit version from DP2)
