See if there's a kext for your card. It might help. Because OSX isn't communicating with the card quite right, causing the Grid bug but otherwise clears tests.
Question, though...have you tried any...

*sigh* With some kexts and some crossed fingers the older system would have been easier to get working than any proprietary system IMO. But then again I am biased with my 780G.

Well 3.0 is OUT.
Nice stuff. :D Of course Youtube wouldn't connect earlier but I just resynced and that fixed it. Seems there's a graphic bug or two though. :\

Bumped with update.
-F has *no* effect on the drive. Starting to look like these super-fast-and-good-for-hard-drives kexts I swear by might be to blame. Hmmmmmm.

Firstly try experimenting with boot commands (-f, -v, -x, -legacy). You should try typing in -v at the boot prompt and see what line your install freezes at.
Secondly, NForce tends to be a real pain...

Heh, didn't know that. Even though OS X detects the new hard drive as ATA (doesn't affect the SATA speed or NCQ powers :p ), and I'm having no problems aside from the DVD burner I'll give that a try.

OK. Try -x -v -f -legacy.

Hmmmmmm.
Find out what kernel you're using. Because this is very clearly from System.kext not liking that kernel. It could well be one of those old 9.2 kernels or something.

I call kext problem. Pick up a System.kext from 10.5.5 so it matches your apparent kernel version. Then it should work fine.
In the meantime, to confirm this is the problem, leave the iPhone plugged...
