It just came into my mind...putting iPhone in Restore Mode or DFU Mode could fix the problem if it's iPhone's fault. At least i have fixed mine this way some time ago when my Computer didnt see it....

Hmm, as far as i know Radeon X1600 ( or any from X1000 ) series, is working with AGP4X, and X1600 should cost something around 50$ ( though im not sure about the price, cant check right now, sorry )....
