How would I Install Mac OS X on External Hard Drive
I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6872 Laptop. What external hard drive should I get to install mac? I don't need much space I'm installing leopard then snow leopard. How would I even install Mac on the external hard drive?

Anyone? I know this can be done. I saw it on YpuTube with the sane exact laptop I cobtacted him no response yet. Someone please help.

1. You do not want to install "Mac" - a Mac or Macintosh is the computer, hardware that has been produced by Apple - no software. What you want to install is OS X.

2. What about one of those HDs with a nice case & an USB connector?
About 10GB minium space requierement.

yea sorry i meant Mac OS X 10.5.6. I would use iPC to install it on there. Then I would get the .dmg of Snow Leopard and go from there. Also if I were to install on an external Hard Drive. Wouldnt i just plug it in the boot from it and it goes right into leopard or snow leopard. Thanks.

can anyone point me in the right direction like link to show me how to install iPC OSX 10.5.6 on External Hard Drive. Just ordered one. 2.5" 250GB From Club bing

I just bought an external hard drive. I installed it. Now I'm trying to complete it and I keep getting "still waiting for root device" someone please help

Mets,

I have a HP DV7 laptop (i7-720qm & gt230m) and try to install Snow Leopard on external hard drive. I tried iBoot+MultiBeast (this works on internal HD), EmpireEFI and others but failed. Until I find Mammoth DVx Boot CD - v1.10, I have booted SL from a USB harddrive successfully. I think the bootloader is the cause of failure; you may try different bootloaders for your laptop.
